Thomas P. Kausel grew up in a family of artists. Already as a 4-year-old he draws for weeks. On his later journey into Concrete Painting he is encouraged and confirmed, among other things, by the artistic development of the landscape over the abstraction to constructivism of Piet Mondrian or by the minimalistic, meditative, color field and hard-edge painting by Barnett Newman.
Pigment as an order factor
Thomas P. Kausel uses oil paint on canvas to create abstract, minimalist images. The artist is interested in the basic elements of color and pigments. His works, often monochrome paintings, are created from pure, unmixed pigments. Often the works receive the name of the pigment.
